About us

The Ravenhead glass factory was founded in 1842 in St Helens in England by Frances Dixon. The family run business grew and was passed down from father to son for three generations. Primarily producing bottles, Ravenhead branched out into domestic tableware such as bowls, jugs and drinking glasses in the 1930s. Between 1960 and 1990, it designed many iconic glasses for the pub and catering industry, and single-handedly changed the perception of glass from a functional item to a fashionable statement for the kitchen and home. High profile designers such as Alexander Hardy Richardson shaped the range producing iconic designs which are still well recognised today. In 2003 The Rayware Group purchased all Ravenhead including Kilner, famous for jars whose overarching aim is to offer stylish and creative glassware ranges to the UK and beyond.
