DO YOU TOAST WITH PROSECCO OR CHAMPAGNE?

14th July 2014

Many of us are swapping traditional champagne for a more affordable bottle of Prosecco.

The Italian sparkling wine is slowly but surely becoming the celebration drink of choice this year, and is growing in popularity.

Yet is there any real difference between the two drinks?

One of the main differences is that champagne is French and can only be produced in the Champagne region, whereas Prosecco is an Italian sparkling wine and made in North East Italy.

Another difference is that champagne can be stored for years and it will age well; however Prosecco is made to be enjoyed within a couple of months. This aging process is why some bottles of champagne are extremely expensive.

With many of us celebrating graduation this month, as well as summer weddings and birthdays, it will be interesting to see which drink reigns supreme this year.

Cheers!
